PALS Algorithms

First Things First (assess & treat for the following)

• Check for response/call for help (911)
• Confirm no pulse present
• Begin BLS/CPR
  • One rescuer (30:2)
  • Two rescuers (15:2)
  • 5 cycles (2 minutes without interruption)
  • 100 compressions/min
• Give oxygen if available
• Attach monitor/defibrillator (may use AED protocol if >1 year)
• Assess rhythm (ECG)
• Establish IV/IO access
