- Does pt have any hematologic abnormalities that require immediate attention?
- Anemia: Hgb < 10 g/dL in presence of ongoing bleeding, hemolysis, hemodynamic alterations, myocardial ischemia, mental status changes, hypoxemia or decreased oxygen delivery
- Cyanosis or decreased oxyhemoglobin desaturation consistent w/ methemoglobinemia
- Neutropenia w/ absolute neutrophil count < 500-1,000/mm3 w/ fever or hypotension
- Thrombocytopenia < 50,000/mm3 w/ bleeding, < 10,000 mm3
- Coagulopathy w/ bleeding
- Intracranial bleeding
- GI bleeding
- Pulmonary hemorrhage
