Chemotherapy Toxicities

First Things First (assess & treat for the following)

• Attend to the ABCs as the first priority.
• The goal is to understand what chemotherapeutic regimen the patient has received and how it relates to the patient’s critical condition.
• Myelosuppression is the most common toxicity that critical care physicians will encounter.
• All of the chemotherapy agents cause myelosuppression, in addition to other specific toxicities.
