Deliberate Toxin Exposure

First Things First (assess & treat for the following)

• Cyanide toxicity
  • Airway mgt
  • ABCs of resuscitation
• Organophosphate poisoning: pesticides & nerve gas agents (Tabun, Sarin, Soman, VX)
• Does pt have any of the following?
  • Respiratory failure: weakness of respiratory muscles, increased airway resistance or depression of respiratory centers
  • Coma or seizures
  • Arrhythmias
