Intracranial compliance

Intracranial compliance may be decreased by intracranial mass lesions (e.g., tumor, hematoma, or abscess). Surrounding normal brain tissue may be compressed, leading to blood–brain barrier compromise, cerebral edema, and loss of cerebral autoregulation.
