4.4–5.4 mg/dL (at pH 7.4) [1.1–1.3 mmol/L]

Whole blood specimen must be collected anaerobically and anticoagulated with standardized amounts of heparin. Tourniquet application must be brief. Specimen should be analyzed promptly.
