Neuromuscular Blockade - Effects of NMB
Surgical conditions
Surgical conditions have been rated as superior by surgeons in blinded studies for laparoscopic and open surgery when deep NMB (post-tetanic count less than or equal to 1) was used compared with moderate block (1-2 twitches). Deep neuromuscular block has also been associated with more successful use of low-pressure pneumoperitoneum as well as reduced postoperative pain scores.
