Intra-anesthetic Problems - Bronchospasm
Reflex bronchiolar constriction
Reflex bronchiolar constriction may be centrally mediated or may be a local response to airway irritation. Bronchospasm is common in anaphylactoid or anaphylactic drug and blood transfusion reactions as well as in cigarette smokers and those with chronic bronchitis. Like laryngospasm, bronchospasm may be elicited by noxious stimuli such as secretions and endotracheal intubation.
