Basics of Echocardiography - Introduction
Echocardiography is the use of ultrasound to image the heart and associated structures. It allows real-time assessment of the cardiac structure, cardiac function, and hemodynamic parameters. There are two primary modalities of echocardiography, transthoracic (TTE) and transesophageal (TEE).
