Transthoracic Image Acquisition

During a TTE, the ultrasound probe is applied to the chest or upper abdomen. TTE imaging can be more technically difficult to obtain because of intervening structures such as the chest wall, ribs, or lung. A review of the comprehensive TTE examination is beyond the scope of this chapter, but the basic views will be discussed.
