Nutritional Assessment and Metabolic Monitoring
First Things First (assess & treat for the following)
- ABCs are first priority.
- Nutritional assessment and metabolic monitoring should follow initial stabilization of the patient.
- Malnutrition is associated with worsened outcomes.
- As soon as patient is resuscitated, nutrients should be provided, especially if more than a brief ICU stay is anticipated.
